Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! We hope that you have a wonderful holiday, and enjoy every minute of time spent with family and friends, giving gifts and good food. Most importantly, we hope you can take a few minutes to be thankful for the gift of Christ and all of the other blessings in your life.

Here's the update on us: Kent has finished a year and a half in UofL's Engineering program. He spent the summer doing a co-op at the Army Corps of Engineers. Of all the things he learned, he was happiest to find out that working in an office wasn't nearly as disturbing as "The Office."

Jenny is still enjoying working in public accounting at Chilton & Medley. She primarily does taxes and other work for real estate companies. Her first tax season back in the trenches went smoothly, and she's gearing up for another one.

A lot of our time continues to be focused on fixing up our 90-year-old house. Another big milestone was reached when we renovated our bathroom. Ok, so we hired someone to do it because it would have taken us a year to do what they did in 6 weeks, but we really needed a shower. It turned out beautiful! Some people brag about their kids on these blogs, we brag about our bathroom.

In July we spent a few days in Gatlinburg for Jenny's brother's wedding. We enjoyed getting to spend some time with Jenny's family and doing a little hiking. Jenny's dad was strong enough to make the trip, which was an answered prayer.

In August we had another family wedding when Kent's mom married Steve Sharp. We weren't able to attend this one in Las Vegas, but we did enjoy watching it on the internet. (What can't you do on the internet?)

Jenny's dad continued to battle the cancer this year until he passed away in September. It's been a hard year, but we are thankful for every minute we had with him and that he is no longer suffering. We already knew what a wonderful man he was, but we were overwhelmed by the number of people who came to express sympathy and tell us what he meant to them as a neighbor, friend and coworker. We are also thankful for all of the people who have shown so much support and generosity to Jenny's mom in taking care of the house and farm.

We've been attending church at the Highland Vineyard. In March the Vineyard Church merged with Highland Christian Fellowship, so it's been a year of growth and change for the church. We enjoy being able to walk to church since it's only a half mile from our house, and we have a great small group.

Mostly we continue to love living in Louisville and being near so many of our family and friends. We still miss Utah and all of the wonderful friends we have there, and look forward to visiting again soon.
